Bollard Installations

Council would like to advise that the Bollard Installation Project proposed by the George Town Placemaking Committee (PMC) at the March 2021 Council Meeting has been approved.  The first site undertaking the transformation will be  the East Beach recreation area at Low Head  located on the old building site of the original Surf Life Saving Club, with the installation of decorative surf lifeguard images painted on wooden bollards in their historical swimming uniforms to acknowledge their contribution to water safety and the protection of the beach community.  The aim of the PMC's project is to enhance public spaces, the bollards have been designed to strengthen the connection between people and places in the municipal area; coordinating and synergising with other placemakers, and consultation with key stakeholdes in order to grow community pride, ownership and spirit.
