COVID-19 Community Care and Recovery Grants Program - Now Open

The COVID-19 Corona Virus Pandemic is an unprecedented event  which is having some significant impacts across the entire community.  Council through its Community Care and Recovery Grant Program is hoping to support and assist of our not for profit organisations, clubs and groups to deliver events or programs that will assist the community to reconnect and move out of isolation, by offering two grant programs  - Events and Lifestyle Recovery Grants with a total grant pool of $46,000.

Not only has the Pandemic had significant social impacts but it has also had economic impacts across our the local business community.  Bell Bay Aluminium and Council have partnered in the development and funding of a local business grants program in the areas of Business Resilience, Recovery and Stimulus, with a total grant pool of $100,000 available to successful applicants.

Council's Community Care and Recovery Package, has three grant classifications:

  • Events Recovery
  • Lifestyle Recovery
  • Business Resilience, Recovery and Stimulus

COVID-19 EVENT RECOVERY GRANT

The Event Recovery Grant forms part of Council’s COVID-19 Community Care and Recovery Package Grants Program.  An amount of $26,000 has been allocated to support not-for-profit community organisations/clubs/groups who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and have identified programs or events that will support social reconnection and inclusion that will engage the community to assist them in the recovery from the affects of social isolation.

Eligible organisations can apply for a one-off grant up to $5,000.

COVID-19 LIFESTYLE RECOVERY GRANT

The Lifestyle Recovery Grant forms part of the has been developed as part of Council’s COVID-19 Community Care and Recovery Package Grants Program.  An amount of $20,000  has been allocated to support not-for-profit community organisations/clubs/groups whose services have been impacted by COVID-19, and have identified programs and equipment required to comply with COVID-19 workplace safety requirements.

Eligible organisations can apply for a one-off grant up to $1,500.

COVID-19 BUSINESS, RESILIENCE, RECOVERY AND STIMULUS GRANT

The Business Resilience, Recovery and Stimulus Grants program is delivered in partnership with Bell Bay Aluminium as part of Council’s extensive COVID-19 Community Care and Recovery Package.

Business recovery is a key priority for Council and Bell Bay Aluminium, and an amount of $100,000 has been allocated to support eligible businesses who have been impacted by COVID-19 Corona Virus Pandemic or require professional assistance or stimulus to restart or grow their business in the George Town Municipality which may lead to employment and increased productivity.

The grant categories are:

A - Business Recovery: (one-off grants up to $4000 from a pool of $30,000)

Examples may include:

  • IT systems upgrades including financial management and accounting systems
  • E-Commerce
  • Web Development

 B - Business Resilience: (one-off grants up to $1000 from a pool of $20,000)

Examples may include:

  • Professional advice services e.g. financial and business planning, human resources, workplace health and safety, training

 C – Business Stimulus: (one-off grants up to $7,500 from a pool of $50,000)

Examples may include:

  • New business initiatives
  • Asset purchases
  • Retraining, upskilling and employment
