CLOSED - DRAFT Low Head Traffic Calming Proposal

George Town Council invites community members to view and comment on the Low Head Traffic Calming Proposal. George Town Council intends to install a pedestrian crossing point connecting the Lagoon Beach overflow car park to the Lagoon Beach picnic area.

The proposed works include the installation of a raised pedestrian crossing on Low Head Road with the addition of road line markings and signage installation such as crossing ahead and slow down signs. Whilst these works are undertaken Council will also commence vegetation clearance to improve motorists’ line of sight while driving. These works aim to improve pedestrian and motorist safety, including improving the sight distances on the approach to the pedestrian crossing. Other benefits we hope to see are more use of the overflow carpark and overall drainage improvement in the area.

The below image shows a bird’s eye view of the proposed crossing location, signage placement and boundaries.

We would also appreciate it if you could share this information with your networks to ensure as many people can contribute to this proposal.

The consultation period will commence 18th August 2022 and close 23rd September 2022.
