George Town Water Tower Mural

The George Town Water Tower was painted in 1985 and to date, this is the oldest painted water tower that has discovered since documenting the Australian Silo Art Trail.

This water tank was directed by Wayne Hutchins from NSW and Diana North from Launceston. They were assisted by Darren Viney and Michelle Johns of George Town. A special mention went to Cathy, Kevin, Jenny and Heath for helping complete the project.

It would not have been possible without the assistance of George Town Council, CEP, Australian Council, TAS arts advisory board, Comalco, TAA, George Town High School, Hec and Gunn Genders Hardware.

Macquarie Street Mosaics

George Town's Macquarie street is where you will find forty-five mosaics are embedded in the footpath.

The work was commissioned by the George Town District Art Council and designed and directed by local artists Margaret Williams and Mark Hoban.

The mosaics were implemented in 1998 during a series of mosaic workshops with GT young people.
