George Town Placemaking Committee Bog Beautiful Project

Council would like to advise that the Bog Beautiful Project proposed by the George Town Placemaking Committee (PMC) at the October Council Meeting has been approved.  The first site undertaking the transformation will be the Elizabeth Street toilet block (located at near the pontoon), followed by East Beach and Lagoon Beach.  The aim of the Committee's projects is to enhance public spaces, in this case municipal toilet blocks, to strengthen the connection between people and places in the municipal area; coordinating and synergising with other placemakers, and consultation with key stakeholdes in order to grow community pride, ownership and spirit.

The project is scheduled to commence in January, the PMC invite expressions of interest from community members to participate in this ‘ paint by numbers project’.  The PMC are encouraging everyone in the community to join in on the projectand ask that participants observe COVID-19 requirements, it would be ideal to have a roster across the time frame ( 10am – 2pm) to ensure a more even spread of participation. Time slots will run for 30 – 60 minutes, depending on each participants availability. To lodge you interest and availablity please email placemaking@georgetown.tas.gov.au and a PMC representative will contact you to discuss your availability, days and times.
