Community Consultation - George Town & Low Head Open Space Network Plan

George Town Council invites community members to view and comment on the draft George Town & Low Head Open Space Network Plan. At Council, we recognise the importance of engaging and consulting with our community when implementing and reviewing our policies, strategies and plans, therefore we are seeking feedback regarding specific aspects.

The Open Space Network Plan is a strategic document that identifies a number of goals for an effective open space network that meets the needs of the whole community, along with recommendations and strategies that may be implemented to achieve these outcomes. It will assist Council to make future decisions on a case by case basis regarding investment in open spaces, their effective distribution and accessibility. The plan encourages broader consideration of open space outcomes and assists to minimise ad-hoc and siloed decision making that might compromise long-term beneficial outcomes.

Some aspects may be implemented immediately in the day-to-day operation of Council, but many aspects will require significant further investigation, consideration and budget before implementation may occur. The document increases Council’s preparedness so that it is better positioned to take advantage of any opportunities that may arise through the subdivision of land, grant funding, or capital works projects.

The DRAFT document and link to the online form are below.

The consultation period is now open and will close at 5pm on Friday, 16th of May 2025.  Hard copies of the document and form are available at the George Town Council Office on Anne Street.
