National Volunteer of the Year Awards 2022

Do you know someone who gives their time to make our community a better place?

Perhaps they run the canteen or coach at your sports club, operate community transport, offer their skills to tutor others, care for the environment, assist with emergency services, or assist in the day to day operations of a charity or organisation: whether that’s tourism, heritage, and the arts; administration; maintenance; or community services.

Recognise these people by nominating them and let us acknowledge and celebrate their contributions to our community!

Further information and nomination forms are available HERE

George Town Council celebrates the valued volunteers in our community during National Volunteer Week, held in May each year. For a nominee to be recognised at the 2022 National Volunteer Recognition Awards, the nomination must be received no later than Monday 2nd May 2022. Late nominations cannot be accepted.

National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week (NVW) is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteers. This year, we will celebrate our Volunteers from Monday 16th of May to Sunday 22nd of May.

This years theme for National Volunteer Week 2022 is Better Together.

Volunteering brings people together; it builds communities and creates a better society for everyone.

National Volunteer Week is a chance for all of us to celebrate and recognise the vital work of volunteers and to say thank you.

Together, through volunteering, we are changing communities for the better. We are, Better Together.
