MEDIA RELEASE George Town Council Invites Budget Submissions

Over the coming months Council will prepare a responsible budget for the 2020/2021 financial year.  At a minimum, the budget will aim to maintain service levels for the provision of almost 100 services to the community and will provide for strategic investment in community assets to ensure long-term financial sustainability.  The 2020/2021 budget will continue to deliver on the initiatives within Council’s Strategic & Annual Plans.

While financial resources for investment into new projects is limited in small municipalities like George Town, Mayor Greg Kieser said “he is eager to hear what the community has to contribute and recognizes the importance of community collaboration in designing the budget for 2020/21”

A submission form is available at Budget Nomination Form 2020/21.  Submissions will be assessed against the priorities in Council’s Strategic Plan, which is available on Council’s website.

Submissions opened on the 20th December and will close 31st January 2020 at 5.00pm, with the draft budget to be presented for consideration in June 2020.
