Covid 19 Update - For Hotel & Accommodation Operators

25 Mar 2020

There are stringent rules applying to accommodation places in our state, and compliance is mandatory.

Hotels, hostels, bed and breakfasts, campsites and boarding houses:

People who are staying at these accommodation types in Tasmania have until 11.59 pm Sunday 29 March to depart the state or return to their place of residence in the state.

  • Anyone self-isolating must continue to do so for the 14 day self-isolation period
  • New bookings cannot be made
  • Excluding permanent residents and workers

Caravan and camping parks:

  • People who are staying at caravan parks in Tasmania have until 11.59 pm Sunday 29 March to depart the state
  • Where people live permanently in caravan parks, campsites or caravans or are staying in caravan parks, campsites or caravans as an interim abode, where their primary residence is not available, they may continue to do so

What should accommodation providers do now?

  • Make your guests aware of the above requirements and ask them to contact their airline or the TT-Line to arrange their travel (if they are an interstate or international traveller)
  • Ensure any guests who are required to self-isolate, continue to do so for the full 14 day period.

Important note for operators of caravan and camping parks?

  • Please urge your guests to make contact with their airline or TT-Line as a matter of priority to make a booking for their return travel

What is the advice to Tasmanians considering travelling within Tasmania?

  • The advice is clear. Tasmanians should stay at home, unless they are working or are at school.

These measures do not apply to essential travellers who are defined here. This is an evolving situation and we will ensure more information is shared with you tomorrow as it becomes available.
