Regent Square Tree Maintenance & Removal

02 Dec 2020

Council appreciates community concern regarding the retention of trees. The work currently underway in Regent Square has been informed by two independent arboriculture condition reports, comprising of a formative pruning, tree transplantation and removal program.

At the time of the reports 175 trees were identified. The recommendations were the removal or relocation of approximately 55 trees, including poplars, blue gums, individual eucalypts and one oak tree due to structural deficiencies and/or disease. 17 of these trees were to be relocated with a number already successfully transplanted to new locations.
The Regent Square redevelopment will have hundreds of new planting, with over 180 advanced trees.

Council continues to invest in community greening and has an recurrent annual planting program which can be evidenced by recent works on the main road and other locations such as Windmill Point.
