Community Consultation: George Town Placemaking - Metal Sculptures Project

26 May 2022

The Placemaking Committee was established by George Town Council to enhance public spaces and strengthen the connection between people and places within the George Town municipal area. It is achieved through advice and recommendations to the George Town Council, co-ordination and synergising with other place makers, and consultation with key stakeholders to grow the sense of community pride and ownership.

The prosperity of a community is measured beyond its economic standing and is often best reflected through a rich cultural presence that can include various forms of art and placemaking.

George Town Council has approved funding for a Metal Sculptures Project proposed by the George Town Placemaking Committee at the Council Ordinary Meeting on the 26th of April 2022. It now is seeking your feedback on the proposed sculpture concepts and locations.

The metal sculptures will enhance public spaces and the relationship between the environment, the community, and the places by creatively recognising the local wildlife.

The images attached are generic of the size and style of sculptures being proposed and the proposed locations of the installations.  Actual sculptures may differ from the concept images. VIEW DOCUMENT AND IMAGES

Please provide your feedback and comments in writing by 22nd June 2022.
