Maintenance works continuing on Batman Bridge, Batman Highway, Sidmouth from Monday, 29 January 2024.

The Department of State Growth continues to paint the Batman Bridge on Batman Highway in Sidmouth to protect and maintain this iconic asset, as part of essential maintenance.

State Growth is preparing to set up a swing stage on the bridge to continue painting the bridge’s A-Frame. No pedestrian access is allowed on the bridge during this work.

Some temporary traffic changes will ensure workers and road users are safe. Lane closures and a reduced speed limit will occur between 7:00 am and 5:30 pm from Monday, 29 January to Tuesday, 30 January 2024 and may affect travel times.

Work will continue to paint the Batman Bridge between 7:00 am and 5:30 pm from Monday to Friday and should be finished by the end of April 2024, weather permitting.
For the safety of workers and road users, please keep to speed limits, follow the directions of traffic controllers and signs, and allow up to fifteen minutes extra travel time during this work.
