Residents and motorists are advised that the installation of a roundabout at the intersection of Franklin and Victoria Street and associated pavement works along Franklin Street (Main Road to Victoria Street) will commence from Tuesday 30th April 2019 and is expected to be completed at the end of June 2019. Access to the construction site will be restricted to local traffic only, under the direction of traffic controllers. All other motorists are asked to please follow detour routes. Road Resealing Works Update - Road Resealing works have been delayed and will now commence 26 March 2019. Council wishes to inform residents that Road Resealing Works will commence on the following roads from 4 March 2019 weather permitting. Cimitiere Street – from Elizabeth to Anne Agnes Street – from Macquarie to Cimitiere Anne Street – from York Cove to Macquarie Davies St – from Friend to Franklin Howard St – from Clifford to end Lagoon Beach Rd – from Low Head Rd to End Please obey all road signage and speed restrictions during these works. RESIDENTIAL HARD WASTE AND GREEN WASTE FREE DISPOSAL George Town Council is offering free hard waste and green waste disposal days at both the George Town and Pipers River Waste Transfer Stations for residential loads only. Proof of residency by way of rates notice or photo identification will be required. No restriction will be placed on the number of visits to either of the facilities on the free days. This service is strictly available for residential waste only. Commercial loads will be charged standard rates. George Town Waste Transfer Station Mt George Road, George Town Saturday 9th March 2019 from 9.00 am – 4.00 pm Pipers River Waste Transfer Station Parry’s Road, Pipers River Sunday 10th March 2019 from 9.00 am – 4.00 pm What type of hard waste can be disposed?
