Nitty Gritty – True stories told by real humans
FREE 10 hour session on Friday the 14th of May 2021.
Do you have a true story to tell?
George Town Council is inviting people from our community to the stage to tell their story. Through stories, we appreciate our differences. Through stories, we strengthen our bonds. Through stories, we celebrate life.
Creator of this special project, facilitator and host is comedian Rachel Berger. Rachel is one of Australia’s favourite comedians, working variously as a comic, novelist, columnist and television entertainer.
Rachel will draw on her thirty years’ experience to work with a group of locals crafting their stories into a performance, ready to deliver in front an audience later that same day. Rachel is passionate about creating work that leads to a better understanding between different groups and individuals within our community.
In Nitty Gritty she brings untold stories and unfamiliar voices into the public arena giving them social currency, reaffirming our humanity, and bringing us all closer.
