Great Barrier Reef
David Attenborough revisits the Great Barrier Reef after nearly 60 years. His visit takes him from the most exposed part of the reef as well as down to 300m below the surface discovering corals never seen before. The Great Barrier Reef is one of the planet’s most extraordinary natural wonders. Its large coral reef system and the only living organism that can be spotted from space. The Great Barrier Reef stretches 2,300 kilometers down the eastern coast of Australia. Covering an incredible 344,400 square kilometers, it is bigger than the UK, Holland and Switzerland combined and it is more than twice the size of the next largest coral reef. With over 1500 species of fish, 600 coral species and 30 different whale and dolphin species, it is one of the most bio-diverse and complex ecosystems on the planet.
