Zines in your hands
Thursday, 2nd of October | 1pm-4pm
Macquarie Room, George Town Memorial Hall Complex
Come along to this fun, hands-on workshop where you’ll learn how to make your own mini-magazine (zine) to tell a story that matters to you. It might be a memory, a recipe, a local legend, or something you love. Bring photos, drawings, or anything else you’d like to include – or start from scratch on the day.
Led by creative storyteller Dr Tim Butcher from ConnectCurateCreate, this workshop is for all ages – kids, teens, parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles… all welcome. No experience needed, and all materials supplied.
You’ll get to fold, cut, glue, draw, and play with layout to turn your story into a real little booklet to take home and treasure or share. Come solo or with a friend or relative and make something together.
Dr Tim Butcher is a visual storyteller and founder of ConnectCurateCreate, a Tasmanian-based initiative focused on local, grassroots creativity. He has run community-based storytelling and media workshops across regional Australia and internationally, collaborating with the Tate (London) and CounterPoints Arts.
