The results are in from our 2025 Community Satisfaction Survey, with 522* (approximately 8.8% of our municipality) community members sharing their thoughts and experiences. We would like to acknowledge and thank the community members who contributed to this survey. Your voices are helping shape how Council understands and responds to the diverse needs of our community. By capturing this feedback, the survey helps to assess current performance levels, identify strengths and uncover opportunities for improvement.

Here are some key insights of the respondents:

  • 356 respondents live in George Town.
  • 72% have called our municipality home for over 10 years.
  • 35% are actively involved in a club, association, or community group.
  • 32% of respondents were aged 60–74, and 68% identified as female.
  • 7% identified as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
  • 79% either live and work in the municipality or are retired residents.

Council received some great feedback, areas of interest and suggested improvements. These insights are invaluable for informing policy development, enhancing service delivery, guiding strategic planning, and strengthening advocacy efforts. The survey feedback is one tool that helps us to gauge the performance of our organisation, and this is considered alongside the regular feedback we receive through various channels.

Positive feedback was received for initiatives like Healthy George Town and the Cat Desexing Program just to name a couple, that responding residents valued highly. The condition of our parks and public areas also rated highly. A key area for improvement is our communications and engagement processes. Council has committed to reviewing our Community Consultation Framework as part of our 2025/2026 Annual Plan.

By regularly analysing these results, we can respond proactively to evolving community expectations and ensure continuous improvement in the services and governance provided. This ongoing engagement highlights our dedication to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and well-served community.
