Art Across Ages: All Ages Creative Workshops
Art Across Ages brings people of all ages together to create, connect, and share.
These free, hands-on workshops are open to everyone, including grandparents, parents, teens, children and neighbours. Each session focuses on a different creative practice and is led by local and visiting artists.
You might learn a new skill, try something new for the first time, or simply enjoy making art alongside others in a relaxed and welcoming space.
Art Across Ages is about more than art making. It is about sharing stories, learning from one another, and building meaningful connections across generations. Come along on your own or with family and friends and enjoy a friendly environment where creativity and conversation flow.
All workshops are free. Registrations are required.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Treasures of the Junk Draw
Wednesday, 22 April 2026 | 2pm – 4pm

Presented by Fiona Miller
Discover the surprising beauty and hidden stories found in everyday objects. In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore repurposed and found materials to create something new, personal, and unexpected.
Led by artist and community maker Fiona Miller, this session invites curiosity, play, and creative reuse. Participants are encouraged to bring a small selection of personal items to work with. Please bring no more than a shoe box of odd or random treasures that can be disassembled or altered.
Fiona works across creative practice and community development, with experience in visual arts, education, disaster preparedness and recovery, inclusion, community houses, and gardens. Her work centres on bringing people together through creative projects, guided by a belief that art crosses all languages and brings joy.
FREE, registrations are required.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
What to bring:
- A small collection of personal or found objects to work with; a shoe box sized container of items
- Objects should be things you are happy to cut, pull apart, or alter

SFX Makeup

Presented by IO Performance
A hands-on introduction to special effects makeup for the stage. Participants will learn the basics of creating bruises, cuts, scars, and other theatrical effects using professional SFX techniques.
This workshop is ideal for curious creatives, budding makeup artists, theatre lovers, and anyone interested in how stage transformations are created. No prior experience required.
IO Performance is a Launceston based performance collective creating bold and innovative theatre that challenges audiences and artists alike. Their practice centres on experimentation, risk, and collaborative learning.

Woodwork for All Ages

Presented by Tool Skool
A fun, safe, and hands on woodworking workshop where participants design and make their own small project to take home. Everyone is encouraged to put their own creative spin on their work.
Tool Skool is led by Asher Cooper, an educator and woodworker based in Launceston. His workshops focus on learning by doing, clear instruction, and building confidence through practical skills such as measuring, sawing, gluing, nailing, sanding, and basic construction.
FREE, registrations are required.

A high energy workshop exploring the playful world of theatre sports and improvisation. Participants will take part in fast paced improv games designed to build confidence, teamwork, and quick thinking in a supportive and inclusive environment.
No performance experience is needed. All that is required is a willingness to have a go and say yes to the unexpected.

Exploring Neurographic Art (Free Flowing Art): Stress Relief and Mindfulness Through Drawing

A gentle and meditative drawing workshop focused on stress relief and mindfulness.
Neurographic art is an intuitive process that transforms thoughts and emotions into flowing lines, shapes, and colour. No drawing experience is required. Participants use free flowing lines, soften intersections, and colour forms as a way of calming the nervous system and encouraging creative flow.
The focus is on the process rather than the final image, making this session accessible to people of all ages and abilities. Each artwork will be unique, and there is no right or wrong outcome.
Annie Fitz is a visual artist and curator based in George Town. Her practice is grounded in an intuitive, process led approach that prioritises stillness, receptivity, and allowing images to emerge organically. She is deeply interested in art as a pathway to inner exploration and mindfulness.

Painting a Water Coloured Flower

Presented by Annie Fitz
A relaxed and accessible watercolour workshop focused on painting flowers and botanicals. Suitable for beginners through to those with some experience, this session introduces techniques such as wet on wet, wet on dry, and layering to build depth, form, and texture.
Participants will explore painting petals, leaves, and stems, working toward a finished botanical composition that reflects their own style and pace.
Annie Fitz is a fifth generation Tasmanian artist with extensive experience as an arts educator. She has worked as a TAFE arts instructor and as an associate lecturer in Illustration and Visualisation at CQUniversity for a decade, developing and delivering courses across visual arts and photography. Her teaching style supports skill development through close observation, material understanding, and confidence building.
FREE, registrations are required.
