Community Consultation - Road Network and Footpath Plans

George Town Council invites community members to view and comment on the draft updated road network and footpath plans. At Council, we recognise the importance of engaging and consulting with our community when implementing and reviewing our policies, strategies and plans, therefore we are seeking feedback regarding its content, purpose and direction.
These two documents are technical guides that identify the road hierarchy in George Town and Low Head. They identify what standards some of the main roads should be built to, based on the network hierarchy and traffic volume. They guide the standards that may be applied when new infrastructure or upgrades are required to make sure the roads will function appropriately as traffic volumes increase with growth. When Council undertakes upgrades or receives requests for upgrades, the documents will assist in determining the applicable standards.
The consultation period is now open and will close at 5pm on Thursday, 24th of April 2025. Please provide your feedback and comments in writing via email at council@georgetown.tas.gov.au or via post PO Box 161, George Town, TAS, 7253.
