Council has received a request by the family of the late Harold Winston Little and seeks your feedback on the proposal to name the existing park located at the southern end of White Street in honour of the late Harold Winston Little. This public space is currently unnamed. The family have indicated their preference for the space to be named ‘Winston Little Park’.
Mr Little played a key role in the subdivision process that led to the creation of this park, which was subsequently transferred to Council. The space now serves as a local recreational area for the community.
The late Harold Winston Little was a decorated member of the community who contributed many hours volunteering labour and equipment to facilities within the municipality. Mr Little committed a lot of his time to committees which included but were not limited to the Pipers River Branch, Pipers River Cricket and Tennis Club, School Association board member, Weymouth Progress Association and was a Councillor of the George Town Council for 21 years.
In 1983, Mr Little was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for his service to George Town.
Please provide any written feedback to the proposal to: council@georgetown.tas.gov.au by 5pm, Thursday, 16th of October 2025.
