Windmill Point

Windmill Point Family BBQ & Play Space has a BBQ and a playground featuring a wooden boat named after the HMS Buffalo – the ship that Paterson landed in 1804. The site also has tree sculptures depicting workmen hauling ashore the telegraph cable that linked Tasmania to the North Island.

Secret Park

This hidden park is the perfect place to take your children if they’re looking for more of a quite park to play at.

Mount George Lookout

Mount George Lookout views the Tamar and archaeological remains plus a unique native habitat trail. From the carpark you'll have to climb a short section of steep stairs to the lookout which requires a minimal level of fitness and mobility.

Lauriston Park

A large area of landscaped parkland. It is accessed through an entrance at the junction of the A8 East Tamar Highway and the B83 Bridport Highway.

This large open area is great for dog walking as there is so much space. It is possible to drive through to the bottom of the park, but it is advised that vehicles do not leave the track as some sections of the park are wetter than they appear. Due to the size of Lauriston Park, hundreds of different walking routes can be devised, including those through the open paddocks, the dam, and the wooded areas.

Lauriston Park also provides access to the Tippogoree Hills Mountain Bike Trails.

Elizabeth Street Pontoon 

The Elizabeth Street Pontoon is home to the stunning Metal Pelican and Seal Sculpture, created by Gravelly Beach Metalworks. This unique sculpture is a highlight, capturing the imagination of visitors of all ages. Known for its excellent fishing spots, Elizabeth Street Pontoon is a favourite among local anglers. Bring your fishing gear and enjoy a relaxing day by the water. Perfect for families, our small playground offers a safe and fun environment for children to play while you enjoy the serene water surroundings.

Don't miss the beautifully painted toilet block, adorned with murals by local artist Melski McVee. The artwork features some of the area's amazing birdlife, including Australian Pelicans, Red-capped Plovers, Banded Stilts, and Pied Oystercatchers.

kanamaluka Trail

Running 6kms from George Town to Low Head, the trail takes in some of the most beautiful and interesting sights of the Tamar Valley - Lagoon Beach, Windmill Point and York Cove. Along its route are museums, historic buildings, nature reserves and the shopping precinct.

Continuing to attract tourists and locals, the kanamaluka Trail is enjoyed for walking and cycling and gentle recreational exercise.
