The Australian of the Year Awards celebrate the achievements and contributions of those making a positive difference to the lives of others. By putting someone forward, your nomination shows the efforts of a fellow Australian have not gone unnoticed.
Now’s the time to nominate any Australian who inspires you in one of four categories:
- Australian of the Year: The Australian of the Year Award celebrates the achievements and contributions of outstanding Australians who are role models for us all.
- Senior Australian of the Year: The Senior Australian of the Year Award recognises those Australians aged 65 and over who continue to achieve and leave a lifelong impact.
- Young Australian of the Year: The Young Australian of the Year Award celebrates inspiring 16 to 30 year olds who have accomplished great things in all walks of life.
- Local Hero: Australia’s Local Heroes are those working hard in their own community and making a real impact.
All it takes is ONE nomination to recognise someone in the Australian of the Year Awards.
Don’t be daunted by the task of nominating your role model or inspiring colleague, community champion, friend or family member. The best nominations are those that tell a story. They’re not always the best written or have a long list of attachments or referees, but they capture the characteristics of an extraordinary Australian making a difference.
Nominations for the 2026 Awards close at midnight AEST on 31 July 2025.
