FREE Hard & Green Waste Days - THIS WEEKEND

George Town Council is offering free waste days at both George Town and Pipers River Waste Transfer Stations to dispose of hard and green waste. To assist with the disposal, please separate your waste into green and hard waste.

Proof of residency or rates notice will be required. No restriction will be placed on the number of visits to the facility on the free days, residential loads only.

What is HARD waste?Hard waste is large items that cannot fit in a regular bin and are usually quite large. Items such as white and electrical goods (tv’s, fridges, washing machines), furniture (couches, cupboards, wardrobes), scrap metal and timber.

What WON’T be accepted

  • Household rubbish and recycling – waste that would normally go in your kerbside bins
  • Tyres, car bodies and parts
  • Mattresses
  • Building waste including glass, loose rubble, bricks, concrete, soil, sand and roofing iron
  • Hazardous and toxic waste eg, Asbestos, chemicals, liquid, paint, gas bottles
