New Dog Signage

We have been upgrading dog signage across the municipality in Council owned and managed areas to make it easier for dog owners to understand where On Lead, Off Lead, and No Dogs Allowed areas are located. The new signs are designed to be clearer, more consistent, and more informative, supporting responsible dog ownership while improving safety and amenity in our shared public spaces.

We have also updated the “Out & About” webpage, which includes visual images showing the exact locations of designated dog zones. The dog zone maps also show Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service coastal management areas to help dog owners stay informed about restrictions along beaches, reserves, and sensitive natural environments.

Designated dog zones across Council managed areas have evolved over many years in response to community needs, public safety, and environmental considerations.

The updated signage supports our ongoing Dog Management Policy, which balances the wellbeing and enjoyment of dogs and their owners with the safety and comfort of the broader community.
