PROPOSAL TO DECLARE CAT MANAGEMENT AREA

In accordance with Section 21 of the Cat Management Act 2009 (the Act), George Town Council hereby notifies the public of a proposal to make a declaration under Section 20 of the Act, declaring an area of land within the George Town Municipality to be a cat management area.

The area of land proposed to be declared a cat management area is namely the George Town Council Depot (14-24 Franklin Street, George Town) bordered by Victoria Street and Thompson Avenue.

This area has been identified as a breeding ground for feral and unowned stray cats that create a nuisance and may pose a health risk to residents and primary production land.

Submissions from the public as to the proposed declaration may be made to the council within 15 working days after the date of this notice. Please address all submissions to the General Manager at PO Box 161, George Town TAS 7253 or Email: Council@georgetown.tas.gov.au. Council will take submissions into consideration before making a declaration.
