Youth Art Prize - Submissions are now closed, and we’re thrilled by the response from young artists across the region! Thank you to everyone who entered.
 
The official opening will be confirmed shortly, with the exhibition on display from Friday, 20th of June until Sunday, 29th of June. Stayed tuned for more details.
 
Youth Art Prize entries will also be on display as part of Solstice in the Square on Friday, 20 June.
 
We can’t wait to celebrate the creativity and imagination of our local young artists.

We’re pleased to announce our 2025 judging panel:

 
Jennifer Dickens - Jennifer is a Tasmanian photomedia artist and current Visual Arts Teacher at Newstead College. Winner of the 2025 Kinimathatakinta Art Prize, she has exhibited both nationally and internationally. A respected arts educator, Jennifer has taught at the University of Tasmania, Scotch Oakburn College, and the Australian International School in Bali. She brings over a decade of experience teaching photography and mentoring emerging artists.
 
Peter Barns - CEO of The People Project (formerly HR+ Tasmania), Peter is dedicated to helping communities access vital health, disability, and aged care services. His creativity extends into the tactile realm, with a particular interest in upcycling disused objects into functional or artistic pieces.
 
Peter Parkes - Operations Coordinator at the Kinimathatakinta/George Town Library, Peter is a skilled government professional with a background in IT strategy, business transformation, and service management. Outside his public service role, he pursues creative projects across various mediums, enriching his connection to community and craft.
