Solstice in the Square 2025

On Friday, 20th of June 2025, Regent Square once again became a gathering place for the community as we delivered our annual signature event, Solstice in the Square.

The evening offered a rich program of music, light, and cultural activity designed to bring people together and celebrate the winter solstice in a uniquely northern Tasmanian way. The event featured live music across two stages, highlighting diverse Tasmanian talent with genres ranging from folk and pop to punk, rock, and Cumbia. Roving fire performers captivated audiences throughout the night, and light-based art installations created an atmospheric backdrop that transformed the space into something both familiar and magical.

The celebration also showcased local food and beverage vendors, offering everything from mulled wine and hot chocolate to warm meals and handmade desserts. Fire pits placed throughout the square provided warmth, gathering points, and a place to pause and take in the atmosphere.

Solstice in the Square continues to grow as a muchloved part of George Town’s annual events calendar, a reflection of our region’s creative spirit, cultural engagement, and strong community connection.
