Please be advised - Upcoming Controlled Demolition – Bell Bay Power Station (Week of 27 October).
As part of ongoing works to safely decommission the former Bell Bay Power Station, Hydro Tasmania contractors will carry out further controlled demolition activity at the site.
This work is being managed by experienced contractors under strict safety procedures and regulatory approvals. While all activity will occur within a secured exclusion zone on Hydro Tasmania property, nearby areas may notice some effects.

Next planned blast: During the week of 27th October 2025 (subject to change) factors such as weather conditions may change the planned timing of the demolition.Timeframe: During business hours (time to be confirmed closer to the date) What to expect: A short, loud noise – similar to thunder – and in some areas, a slight ground rumble Safety: All works occur within a 500m exclusion zone on Hydro Tasmania land Traffic on the East Tamar Highway may be momentarily paused (up to 15 minutes) to ensure public safety during the demolition window.
