George Town Council will celebrate NAIDOC Week 2024 with a Flag Raising Ceremony, Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony on Monday the 8th of July 2024

The theme this year honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture – with fire a symbol of connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

George Town Council would welcome your attendance at this significant event, as we embark on our Reconciliation journey with our Aboriginal community.

WHEN: Monday 8th of July 2024
WHERE: Outside Memorial Hall/Wind Shelter - Regent Square
TIME: 10:00am, Followed by a morning tea in the Jim Mooney Gallery

 

Dinner and Film Screening of The Last Daughter

The Last Daughter is a film about a young girl being raised by a white family is taken away and returned to the Aboriginal family she didn’t know. Decades later, she’s on a journey to discover where she truly belongs.
