Immunisation Program

Each year the George Town Council visits two schools in the municipality to administer vaccinations to grade 7 and grade 10 students. There are 2 sessions held throughout the year.

Many diseases prevented by immunisation are spread directly from person to person - good food, water and hygiene do not stop infection. Despite excellent hospital care, significant illness, disability and death can still be caused by diseases which can be prevented by immunisation.

All vaccines are administered by a doctor from the George Town Medical Centre with the assistance of a registered nurse.

For further information regarding the school immunisation program please contact Council Officer at the George Town Council office on 6382 8831.
